Insulation resistance (IR) testing assesses transformer insulation condition.
Test Connections
- HV to ground (LV grounded)
- LV to ground (HV grounded)
- HV to LV (both to ground)
Interpretation
Minimum 1 MΩ per volt rule. Polarization index (PI) > 2.0 indicates good insulation.
